Boulder Fountain

Creating a water feature from a large stone
This project came from a previous customer who had recently performed some renovations on their house. They decided they wanted a water fountain of some kind in the area where they previously had some steps. It was not an easy spot to get to.
After much discussion we decided to drill a hole in the center of a boulder picked out by the homeowner. They wanted a shallow dish like area at the top of the stone where the water would collect before cascading down the boulder.
I cut and chiseled the top of the stone for a couple of hours then got my polishing tools out to create the dish like area at the top. My good friend and landscape designer Michaela Harlow at The Gardeners Eden helped with the design and drawings for the project.
