Driveway Retainer

Driveway stone wall

In Cummington Mass there is a small stone quarry called Sugarledge Stone Quarry. Lucky for us this job was not far away.

There was a retaining wall that was failing at the edge of this driveway due to heavy truck traffic and poor drainage over time.

We decided to dig all the way down (8 feet) to reach ledge for a base to start building the wall back up. For compaction reasons there are many layers of stone and gravel to reach the height of the driveway.

After driveway height was reached it was time to start on the double-sided wall that would keep vehicles from getting too close to the edge of the driveway. There was also a conduit installed for lighting that would come later in the project.
