About Curtis Gray Stonemason
A bit of history...
Curtis Gray grew up on a farm in the small town of Ashfield, Massachusetts. While stacking hay and splitting firewood were his main chores, gathering buckets of maple sap for his Grandfather to boil down for syrup was his favorite job on the farm. These days Curtis is very involved with his family's maple operation.
After high school, Curtis started a lawn maintenance business. One day a gentleman from neighboring Conway, Mass called and asked Curtis for help building a stone wall. Curtis replied "I don't do stonework," but the caller was persistent; he needed the help and appreciated Curtis' work ethic and skill. While working with his (soon to become close friend and mentor) he picked up many techniques to building a sturdy New England stonewall.
That project became the inspiration for Curtis to further his education in the stonewalling profession. He now has an impressive portfolio, as shown by the examples of his work on this website. Today he is an active member of The Stone Trust in Dummerston VT, a not-for-profit professional organization with a mission to preserve the art and craft of dry stonewalling, and is a level II certificate holder with the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain (DSWA-GB).
He has worked with homeowners, landscape designers, and other dry stone masons to create the best possible work for his clients. Curtis is always happy to talk stone. Please contact him to put his years of experience to work for you.
