Steps / Walkways
We are fortunate to live in an area where we have access to a product known as Goshen Stone formation, which is a mica schist available at a number of quarries in the Franklin/Hampshire county area. This type of stone was formed into layers millions of years ago by heat and compression. It can vary from two inches to 12 inches in thickness. It is easy to work with and locally sourced.
Other popular types of stone used for steps are Bluestone and Granite or Marble. These are sourced from vendors rather than directly from the quarry.
Stone steps are a great investment. They will never rot, need painting, or need replacing for that matter.
Stone steps add elegance or a bit of rustic farm house feel to even the newest home.
Stone walkways are also very common with the steps and landings. You can have large slabs or square pieces of Bluestone or Goshen Stone.
If you wish to add railings to your steps or walkway, we can accommodate that request through our collaboration with a local metal fabricator.
